Vice President Pence Calls for Human Missions to Moon, Mars at National Space Council

Vice President Mike Pence called for returning U.S. astronauts to the Moon and eventual missions to Mars during the first meeting of the National Space Council, held on October 5 at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, outside Washington.

Chaired by the Vice President, the council meeting brought together representatives from all aspects and sectors of the national space enterprise, for the first time in a quarter century. NASA’s Acting Administrator, Robert Lightfoot was among the participants.
